Preppies Drawing Dinosaurs on Shrink Plastic - Craft Fun at School

My son is currently learning about dinosaurs at school and I am amazed at how much these six-year-olds know about them. Some of the kids can accurately identify just about any species of dinosaur you choose to point out, and they'll throw in some very impressive facts too.
I offered to come in to school to help the kids make their own dinosaur shrinki pendants and I'm not sure who had more fun, me or the kids!
2 classes participated in the Shrinkibits activity, and thanks to the Prep teachers, all the children had practised drawing dinosaurs and even had design plans for their triangular-shaped pendants.
Here are some pics from the event:

School Holiday Craft Workshops

We are now well into the last term of the school year here in Melbourne, and with all the school concerts, excursions and fun days planned, it feels like we are sprinting to the finish of another year.
A few weeks back in the school holidays, I held a series of Shrinkibits Shrink Plastic Workshops as incursions at 10 different primary school holiday programs around Melbourne

Hundreds of children experienced the thrill of shrinking plastic for the first time. They created delightfully imaginative pieces that shrunk before their eyes in the little portable oven, and they proudly took them home as pendants and bag tags.
I managed to get a few photos of their work and promised a couple of those children I would publish their masterpieces in my blog, so here they are, kids!

Friends Over

It's the fourth day of the school holidays. My 5 year old son and my 10 year old daughter each have a friend over and it's beginning to sound like a war zone around here. Cushions are flying and.. tell me, why do kids need to scream so much to have a good time?
My son's friend asked if he can make Shrinki's and everyone is keen, so out came the trusty Shrinkibits shrink plastic supplies. The kids choose their cutout shrink plastic shapes and use the tracings along with their own ideas to create their original pieces ready to shrink.

The noise settles and is replaced with giggles and chatter.
Heaven.. time to grab a cuppa!
A batch ready to bake...

In the oven shrinking and starting to flatten...
Done and ready to attach to their schoolbags.
